On Monday, many friends of cricketer Mohammed Siraj contacted him and informed that ‘I Love You’ messages are being posted from his Instagram account. Siraj who recently made his debut for Indian team in T20 cricket matches played against New Zeland, contacted the Cyber Crime sleuths of Hyderabad commissionerate on Tuesday.
After Siraj lodged a complaint with the Cybercrime Wing, the police traced the hacker and found out that hacker was a 14-year-old boy. The police found out that hacker set a phone number as the new password for the accounts. That 14-year-old minor is a watchman’s son and is a huge fan of the player who also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017.
Hello everyone!!! Unfortunately my Facebook and Instagram accounts has been hacked last night by some unknown persons. Alhumdulillah, today in the evening all the accounts have been recovered with the help of Telangana Cyber Crime branch police. With this message, I would like to thank all the Telangana Police who have worked on this case. #ThankYouVeryMuch #TelanganaPoliceTeam
“The social media accounts of Md Siraj including his facebook, instagram, gmail and twitter accounts were hacked by the unknown person. The hacker sent ‘I Love You’ messages to friends on social media accounts,” said a Cyber Crime official.
However, on finding out that the boy is a minor, Siraj requested the police to not book him or file a case against him. He did not want to dent the boy’s future and hence decided to leave the matter as it is.
During the investigation police came to know that the boy’s brother is a friend of the Siraj and they are questioning him to know how the boy managed to hack into the accounts of Siraj.
