The IPL 2018 retention saw a few bizarre decisions from the franchises as they did not retain some of their favorite star players. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has chosen not to retain their two-time Indian Premier League winner captain Gautam Gambhir. However, there were reports that Gambhir will be playing for Delhi Daredevils this season after KKR let him go ahead of the IPL 2018 auction.
Gambhir had revealed earlier that he wasn’t contacted for the retention by KKR. KKR has retained two West Indies players Sunil Narine and Andre. Other players who did not make it into retention list were Manish Pandey, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Umesh Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav.
KKR’s decision is a little unexpected as Gambhir led KKR to their first title win in 2012 followed by another title in 2014. He is the second-most successful captain in the history of the IPL just after Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who has won it three times.
This decision didn’t go well with fans, and they started to troll both ways.
