Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic magnum opus, Padmaavat, has finally got worldwide release after a controversial protest of Karni Sena and other similar groups. The movie is receiving huge response, commercially as well as critically. However, the latest report from B-Town about this movie is shocking and creating quite a buzz.

To everyone’s surprise, the lead role of Padmaavat was initially offered to none other than King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh was Bhansali’s first choice to essay the lead role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, which was eventually played by Shahid Kapoor.

Shah Rukh was approached by the makers of the film to play the role of Deepika’s love interest in the film but King Khan found the role little weaker as compared other male counterpart of the film, Alauddin Khilji. So, SRK turned down the offer in the epic historical drama, reports suggest.

Later Bhansali even offered him the role of Khilji as he was persistent about working with his Devdas actor. But, SRK had to reluctantly deny the second offer as he was facing serious outrage after the release of his gangster drama film, Raees. SRK was trapped in a tight situation and finally had to give up the role of Khilji.

However, Shah Rukh’s rejection to the roles fell into good hands and actors, Shahid and Ranveer played the roles incredibly and are now being widely appreciated for their impeccable performances.
