Now You Will Need 16-Digit Virtual ID & limited KYC to Secure Aadhaar Data Privacy

1. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced Virtual ID and limited KYC for Aadhaar number holders to eradicate privacy and security concerns over sharing of Aadhaar details.

2. The virtual ID for an Aadhaar holder will be used to avoid the need for sharing Aadhaar number at the time of authentication.

3. The limited KYC service will eliminate the need for agencies to store Aadhaar numbers.

4. The virtual ID will be a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number mapped with the Aadhaar number. It will not be possible to extract the Aadhaar number from the virtual ID.

5. UIDAI will issue a unique UID token in response to the authentication and limited KYC request. This KYC token will remain the same for an Aadhaar number for all authentication requests by that particular entity.
