A young couple which was out on a date in a village orchard ended up marrying each other within few hours, with uninvited help from police on Wednesday.
When locals spotted 25-year-old Yugal Bihari Prajapati and 23-year-old Reena Prajapati in the village orchard, accused them of obscenity and called the police. Policemen took couple to the police station where they confessed they had been in a love relationship for two years and wish to marry in March.
So, police decided to get them married off the same day in the presence of their relatives and other villagers at a nearby temple. Village head persuaded the couple’s parents to agree to the swift marriage. All the wedding arrangements were made by Police personnel. This incident took place in Badaura village of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Jansa station in-charge, Anil Kumar Singh said, “They were sitting in the garden when locals informed us. A police team brought them to the station. They told us they wanted to marry, so we arranged their marriage with their parents’ consent,”
Village head, Shivprakash Singh said, “The parents of the bride gave Rs 1 as ‘shagun’ (auspicious amount) to the man’s kin.”
For the couple, though, still it’s difficult to realize that they are married now, it’s like dream coming true. Yugal, who works for a private company in Mumbai said, “I had never imagined I would get married in such a manner. What is interesting is that police made the arrangements for my marriage. The love of my life is with me and I will take her to Mumbai.”
